Animals, Future, and Gif: 3 WAYS PLASTIC GETS INTO THE SEA beesaltybeesweet: the-sea-lovers: HELP US TO SAVE OCEAN MARINE ANIMALS  🌊🐋The role plastic products play in the daily lives of people all over the world is interminable. We could throw statistics at you all day long (e.g. Upwards of 300 MILLION tons of plastic are consumed each year), but the impact of these numbers border on inconceivable. For those living on the coasts, a mere walk on the beach can give anyone insight into how staggering our addiction to plastic has become as bottles, cans, bags, lids and straws (just to name a few) are ever-present. In other areas that insight is more poignant as the remains of animal carcasses can frequently be observed; the plastic debris that many of them ingested or became entangled in still visible long after their death. Sadly, an overwhelming amount of plastic pollution isn’t even visible to the human eye, with much of the pollution occurring out at sea or on a microscopic level. The short-lived use of millions of tons of plastic is, quite simply, unsustainable and dangerous. We have only begun to see the far-reaching consequences of plastic pollution and how it affects all living things. According to a study from Plymouth University, plastic pollution affects at least 700 marine species, while some estimates suggest that at least 100 million marine mammals are killed each year from plastic pollution. Here are some of the marine species most deeply impacted by plastic pollution.Sea TurtlesSeals and Sea LionsSeabirdsFishWhales and Dolphins– GET KEEP OUR OCEAN BLUE T-SHIRT HERE –– GET THE BABY WHALE EARRINGS HERE –– GET PROTECT OUR OCEAN T-SHIRT HERE –– GET THE BLUE MERMAID TAIL NECKLACE HERE –– GET THE WAVE BANGLE BRACELET HERE –– GET THE 10 PACK COLORFUL OCEAN NECKLACES HERE –– GET THE MERMAID TAIL NECKLACE HERE –– GET THE BLUE MERMAID TAIL EARRINGS HERE –– GET THE WAVE RING HERE –– GET THE WAVE EARRINGS HERE –– GET THE MERMAID TAIL NECKLACE HERE –– GET THE 7 PACK GOLD NECKLACES HERE –– GET THE WAVE NECKLACE HERE –– GET SAVE THE WORLD UNISEX T-SHIRT HERE –Our causeEvery second, 206 kg of plastic waste end up in the world’s oceans. I understand if you do not want to use silk or fur because of the way it is produced (even though some furs are actually also byproducts of hunting, like Greenlandic sealskin, which is sold as a byproduct of Kalaalit hunting traditions and as a byproduct), but using polyester, acrylic or even viscose (the energy and CO2 print of creating viscose is GINORMOUS) instead is as harmful, if not, to the general ‘health’ of the planet. You made have saved a sheep, but you’ve just poisoned a whole bunch of fish and other water dwelling animals and microorganisms instead. If wooly products still bother you, buy 100% cotton, flax, hemp, bamboo, coconut fibre, wool (sheep, merino, alpaca, bison, angora, camel, any kind of animal you can brush/sheer, yes, even your golden retriever hairs should be able to be made into yarn if you find a spinning wheel and a spinster willing to try), sisal, etc. products instead. They’re nice and breathable too!

This isn’t the same as how much trash each country produces - if that were what the chart was measuring, it would look FAR different. I’m not saying this to defend China, but if you’re looking at who produces the most waste per capita you should look at countries like the United States of America, Switzerland and New Zealand - countries that all produce FAR more waste per capita than China does. Like do you people SERIOUSLY think Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Vietnam have even close to the consumption capacity to produce 5 or 6 TIMES more waste than the US? The reality is that first world countries pay poorer countries to dispose their waste there because disposing of this waste in a cheap way is now mostly illegal there (at least in Europe I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to burn it anymore) and any ways to do it in an environmentally friendly way are way more expensive. And of course, poorer countries don’t have the capacity (or the resources) to dispose of this waste in an environmentally friendly way (although this is actually changing for China specifically, if you look at the chart its somewhat old), so of course for them to get rid of it, it goes into the sea. First world: *exports trash and pollution-causing industry to the third world, consumes products dependent on these facts* Inept first worlder: “wtf China stop polluting” Imagine seeing a chart that claims Sri Lanka produces 82 times more waste per capita than the dramatically wealthier United States and just rolling with it

MAY ALLAH SWT REUNITE THEM BOTH IN THE PARADISE 😭 “My husband and I sold everything we had to afford the journey. We worked 15 hours a day in Turkey until we had enough money to leave. The smuggler put 152 of us on a boat. . - Once we saw the boat, many of us wanted to go back, but he told us that anyone who turned back would not get a refund. We had no choice. Both the lower compartment and the deck were filled with people. . - Waves began to come into the boat so the captain told everyone to throw their baggage into the sea. In the ocean we hit a rock, but the captain told us not to worry. Water began to come into the boat, but again he told us not to worry. We were in the lower compartment and it began to fill with water. It was too tight to move. . - Everyone began to scream. We were the last ones to get out alive. My husband pulled me out of the window. In the ocean, he took off his life jacket and gave it to a woman. We swam for as long as possible. After several hours he told me he that he was too tired to swim and that he was going to float on his back and rest. . - It was so dark we could not see. The waves were high. I could hear him calling me but he got further and further away. Eventually a boat found me. They never found my husband.” ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ @abed.alii 📝
