The solution isnā€™t 100% perfect, thereā€™s a lot of people who arenā€™t technically homeless because they live with other people for free etc. but yeah this does majorly help reduce risks for vulnerable people.

Hereā€™s the big thing about it that might scandalize Americans even more so than the idea of free housing: you donā€™t have to do anything toĀ ā€œdeserve it.ā€ Most countries use whatā€™s calledĀ ā€œthe staircase modelā€ ā€“ you start by being in shelter, then maybe a halfway house, then permanent housing. You canĀ ā€œmove upā€ by going through rehab or getting a job or accessing other services. The idea is that housing is something you get as a reward for good behavior, not something you get by right.But with the housing first model, you get the house first, and thenĀ deal with everything else. Itā€™s a lot easier to stop using drugs and alcohol when you have other ways to pass the time and arenā€™t under constant stress. Itā€™s a lot easier to get a job when you have an address to put on your applications. Itā€™s a lot easier to treat mental illness when youā€™re in a safe place that doesnā€™t add to your fear and pain. Bottom line about Bush and immigration is that post 9/11 immigration policies rarely if ever caught any potential terrorists but it did spike the number of deportations with the creation of ICE.

Not only did Bush create ICE he also sent us to two wars built on false pretenses that have cost us TRILLIONS of dollars AND didnā€™t kill thousands, it killed MILLIONS of innocent Iraqiā€™s and other peoples. Trumpā€™s death toll isnā€™t even close. So far obviously.Ā 
Then he ruined our education system and put even worse economic incentives on it with the no child left behind act.Ā 
He stripped us of several civil liberties that newer generations now take for granted such as privacy with the patriot act.Ā 
The NSA was created to spy on US citizens despite intelligence agencies (which liberals now adore since Trump attacked theirĀ ā€œintegrity) lying to our faces under oath (which is super illegal) that they werenā€™t doing so.Ā 
so noā€¦. Bush is trying to make himself feel good by being ant-Trump. He is more than just a war criminal and frankly so far, again, he was much worse. We cannot let historical amnesia take over. He gave Trump all the tools to be an authoritarian monster, tools that Obama, mind you, never disbanded.Ā 

Trump is a piece of shit and again can very well outdo Bush but Bush and his administrationĀ  were literally evil and so far have been way worse. Even if it does thatā€™s a smokescreen to distract us from how evil it is. The US military sometimes does ā€œgoodā€ by giving aide to famished countries yet often itā€™s the one creating the famines lol We can have a non militarized agency that deals with human trafficking without ripping children from their families and without being hostile to brown immigrants who are often fleeing extreme violence and penury some caused by the US. Also for those who are concerned about border securityā€¦ā€¦ we had border security before ICE was invented. ICE is not needed at all. Plus the border security BS is overrated since immigrants commit less crimes than non immigrants and if we legalize drugs and regulated them and taxed them gang violence and Mafia like activity that occurs on the border will cease to exist. We are the cause of a lot of this. We create a problem and then make it worse by our militarized non-solutions.
