Being Alone, Be Like, and Crazy: What is the saddest truth about smart people? Written 10h ago I couldn't possibly over exaggerate just how accurate Tor Matson's answer is. My genius IQ combined with my hyper awareness has been nothing but a curse, and everything he says is correct. To make it easy to understand for others, I've often said to imagine being on a planet of retarded monkeys... You know you're right You see exactly how everything should be, exactly what a situation is, but you have a planet full of retarded monkeys calling you ignorant, claiming you're wrong, en masse, and constantly giving animosity even though you're clearly in the right. That's what it's like. I've always said, I'm certainly wrong a lot for a genius. I mean, here I have this exceptionally high IQ. yet whether family or acquaintance, you can bet if there's an argument of any kind I'm always the wrong one. Every time. It's amazing! And yeah, you get tons of animosity for being smart. Regular people are intimidated by it for some reason, threatened by it. It's as if it being clear that you're smart means that they're stupid (though, well, they kinda are hehehe), or like they're less of a person. But they're not. It's just simply that's my thing, that's my talent; being smart. Some people are great artists, though I can't draw for shit. Some people are great singers, though I sound like a dying cow. Some great at sports, though I'm not athletic at all. But those people don't deal with the same animosity. That's their thing... Being smart and logical is my thing. It doesn't make me better than them, yet they'll lash out as if it does. How many times I hear "oh, you think you're just better than everybody!"... Ummm, no I don't. I'm just simply smarter. But if someone's a really good singer, they don't get lashed out at, instead they'll hear "oh, you sing so good! I wish I could sing like that". There's a respect, an admiration. Not so much for us intelligent people. Just doesn't work that way for us... So yeah, it leads to a very lonely existence, where you feel like you're different from everyone else, and where you're constantly a target of defensiveness, bitterness and animosity, just like Tor Matson said. It's like we're on the wrong planet. But I can't help but wonder how much better off the world could be if people stopped feeling so threatened by intellect and instead sought wisdom appreciated wisdom, looked to those more intelligent to themselves as guides, as gurus. If they just listened to us and valued our opinions and positions. We see things on a higher level, have a higher awareness, can see things sometimes just so clearly, where we KNOW we're right. But damned if we can get people to listen sometimes. Instead we all end up being the wrongest people on the planet... Where all the retarded monkeys get together and call ya crazy, and mock how wrong you are, and have the nerve to call you the ignorant one. So what's the saddest truth about us? That deep inside we wish we were a retarded monkey too... Because being on a higher level means we feel more deeply, see more deeply, and all we do is feel the pain and sadness of knowing how fucked up this world is and how fucked up everybody in it is, and knowing exactly what the right way is sometimes, but instead of being respected are instead pariahs, and targets of animosity and bitterness, and it leads to just a mentally trying and mentally exhausting existence. We know we're different. We know we don't fit in. We know we're kinda on the wrong planet, and inside we all feel isolated and alone; no matter how sociable we are or how many friends we have. We wish we could be like evervone else, for ignorance is truly bliss.
