Ipassed a cop on the highway who was going 55 in a 65 I was going 65 and got pulled over for speeding How could this happen? Can I fight this ticket? Mike Mesmer former Bean counter Programmer Sailor bureaucrat Answered Feb 20 Author has 314 answers and 21m answer views Yes fight the ticket Unless you have physical or irrefutable proof the judge will always take the cops words as true Do not try to say the cop was lying it won't work Basically fighting it means you can only win if the cop doesn't show up So how can you accomplish that? The cop will give you a court date at which most likely he will attend All the tickets he writes within a given period will be for that court date You have a one time extension of the court date Use it I did my extension for thirty days When you show up after the extension you will be asked to plead guilty or not guilty Plead not guilty You will be given an option for a speedy trial Decline it This was in March so I was given a list of court dates to choose I chose December 21 Nine months later was the court date I chose and close to Christmas Why? Because I was hoping that would be an inconvenient time for him maybe he was on Christmas vacation or forgot the details of the ticket or no longer in the force or retired Anything can happen in 9 months Also pick the latest court time like 3 or 4 pm He might have some Christmas shopping to do I don't know where he was or what he was doing but he was not in court that day I got out of a $400 ticket I don’t know if this is where this belongs but this was one of the smartest things I’ve ever read Meme
